Time for more rubbish out of my gob
So 2 months ago we moved in too our new house, wow doesn’t time fly. We finally used our 1st gas bottle which took longer than expected so hopefully we should see some power savings soon with no hot water heating costs.
So the latest and greatest since last time. Well there are few events really. First up was Chris and Elizabeth flying into town for a week for her sisters wedding. The wedding was up on Mt Cheeseman which was a great setting provided it was a nice day. We spent a bit of time with them but that weekend we shot up to Wellington for my friend Adams wedding. It was a weekend of weddings. It was a good catch up with a who swag of people most of whom went to Uni in Dunedin and all moved to Wellington once they graduated. We also had a chance to look about Wellington which neither of us had done, I had only been there for a weekend before we went to London and Leigh had never been there. Adventures all round. We went to the usual haunts, Helens house (the Beehive) and Te Papa and generally just wandered about.
Back in Chch we took a day off work and had a good catch up with Chris and Eli. Reminiscing about the good ol days in London, whinging about the tube and all the beer we drunk at the local.
That was all back at the start of March. Chris and Eli headed down south to see the rest of their family. Come Easter time is was time for use to head off again. This time to Doubtful Sound. This was the usual holiday destination when I was growing up, fishing, diving and general boating but since leaving home it had been years since I had been in there. This time I brought along with me Jeff and Mel, Leigh’s parents and of course Leigh. We headed down to Invercargill the Thursday before easter. Then on the Friday we hoped in the Spastic Bus and drove 2 hours to Manapouri. It was then on to the Pescatore (mum and dads boat) for a 1hour trip across lake Manapouri to west arm. From there we loaded the boat on to the fire engine and drove another hour over Wilmot Pass into Deep Cove. Then we loaded all the gear onto the Miss Akaroa (larger boat we would be spending the next few days) and steamed out to Doubtful Sound. Half the adventure was just getting there. From here we spent the next 4 days diving for crayfish, catching tuna, groper and of course drinking and having a good time. We got some fantastic weather, the sounds were like a lake pretty much the whole time. Pretty lucky considering Fiordland has the highest rainfall in NZ.
So in the end we all came home with 12 crayfish each, a bag of tuna, blue cod and groper. Not a bad haul really.

So it was back to the daily grind again. Leigh is now a bit miffed that we now have no holidays planned. Darn. Although this has been slightly remedied recently. After a little alcoholic lubrication we decided with Jeff and Mel that we should head to Samoa for a look. Of course how could we say no. It wont be till early next year probably but at least its something to look forward to and plan for.
So last weekend mum and dad came up. I shouted them some flights and it only cost me $4 for 2 people return. The joys of sitting on grab a seat all day. We didn’t get up to too much, bit of measuring up for some modifications to the house and both of them had a spend up. Dad on a new motorbike jacket and he also got the exhausts for his new Ducati bored out and mum done the girly handbag and shoe shopping with Leigh.
This weekend we have Nicole’s birthday. It’s a Retro dress up so it might be a trip to the Op shop tomorrow. Ok better head off its beer-o-clock
